Many TRAIL members love books and love history. Because someone cared, documents, maps, books, and other precious materials have been preserved so that future generations can use primary sources in good condition.
We heard about the UI Conservation Lab when a small group visited Special Collections to see the Tom Brokaw papers. Now we have a chance to see how the actual work is done to maintain our cultural history.
Eight lucky participants will meet with staff of the Lab to see the "behind the scenes” methods employed at the Lab. The Conservation Lab has been in existence for over 30 years and staff there trains students to learn methods to preserve and maintain all UI collections.
