In this virtual presentation celebrating the Great North American Eclipse of 2024, the UI Department of Physics and Astronomy will use demonstrations to share information about the sun, what powers it, how it moves energy to us on Earth, and its structure and features that can be observed. Then they’ll cover solar eclipses, including what they are, what causes them, and tips for safely enjoying the April 8 eclipse.
Also, to celebrate the solar eclipse on April 8, the UI is offering free solar eclipse glasses to alumni and friends. Glasses are limited and will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis. Sign up to receive a free pair of solar eclipse glasses: https://foriowa.info/49blBwO
