Since TRAIL is unable to host our usual in-person member events at the present time, we hope these recommendations will help you select from among a wealth of online opportunities to learn, grow, and combat social isolation. Enjoy!
From our friends at Hancher Auditorium: Jazz at Lincoln Center’s 2020 gala concert, “Worldwide Concert for Our Culture,” is a 2-hour, online musical celebration that will feature culture defining artists from Japan, Brazil, Russia, Pakistan, South Africa, Germany, Belgium, Spain, Italy, Cuba, and the United States joining the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis from remote locations.
This concert will bring us all together to uplift and encourage us with the wisdom and insights of major artists who have represented and elevated their respective cultures for decades. Each will play the song that made them fall in love with jazz, and we are sure it will lift us from the isolation of this moment to the collective memory of a greater future.
Among the artists participating are several Hancher favorites including vocalists Cécile McLorin Salvant and Dianne Reeves, pianist Chucho Valdés, and of course, our dear friends from the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis.
Can’t catch the concert live? Happily, the entire event will remain online for the next several weeks for you to enjoy at your convenience.
