The Iowa City Parks and Recreation Department invites you to Get Outside! – An Outdoor Recreation Festival.

Get Outside! will highlight the many opportunities our natural landscapes provide through various outdoor recreational and wellness activities. Attendees will have the chance to engage in a wide range of hands-on experiences, try something new, and be inspired to get outside! There is no fee to attend this event and all are welcome.

Attendees can try their hand at the following:

• Cycling and bike maintenance demos
• Fishing
• Archery
• Rock climbing
• Strider bike racing and obstacles course
• Plein air painting
• Survival skills, such as shelter building & campfire cooking
• Wildlife meet & greets
• Disc golf
• Horseshoes
• Camping set-up & gear testing
• Sand volleyball
• & More

Plus: Music!

Bring your dancing shoes (or hiking boots) and enjoy a live performance by the Jumbies from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM. 

Fuel Your Adventure

Local food trucks and food vendors will be on-site from 10 AM through 2 PM to make sure participants are fueled for their adventures throughout the day. Start with breakfast and stay for lunch!
