You may have heard on the news that the blood supply in Iowa and elsewhere in the nation has become critically low.
The Iowa City Senior Center is helping out by hosting a UI DeGowin Center blood drive. All blood collected will be used to support patients at UI Health Care and Stead Family Children's Hospital.
The ICSC invites all healthy adults to participate. However, when donating, please remember:
- You must provide a photo ID
- Drink plenty of fluids and have a good meal before you donate
- Be free of cold or flu symptoms for five days
- Bring a list of the medications you take
- Bring a list of the places and dates you have traveled outside the U.S. within the last three years
- Whole blood donations take about 45 to 60 minutes
