Riverside Theatre’s The Fiancé, a warm and funny world-premiere play by Emily Bohannon, opens tonight and will run through May 3.
The story follows Bea, a woman who moves into a retirement home to finally pursue the city life she always dreamed of, where she discovers a new friendship, an unexpected romance, and a marriage proposal from a man named Doug.
When her family pushes back, Bea must decide, on her own terms, how she wants to spend the rest of her life and with whom. The play stars Riverside Theatre founders (and TRAIL supporters) Jody Hovland and Ron Clark.
According to its producers, “The Fiancé is a joyful, affirming celebration of older adults living boldly and independently, exactly the spirit that TRAIL works so hard to foster every day.”
Note that the Sunday, April 26, matinee will include a post-performance panel discussion with John Kalohn, chair of the Johnson County Livable Community Policy Board; aging life coach and researcher Mary McCall; and FeatherStone’s Jordan Pahl.
