The Iowa City Downtown District invites you to one of its most popular traditions: the Iowa City Gallery Walk. For over 25 years, this event has taken over downtown and filled your favorite businesses with wonderful works of art.
The Spring Gallery Walk will be the first gallery walk of 2026 on Friday, March 6, from 5-8 PM. This free event is open to everyone to enjoy a self-guided tour of shops, galleries, and other locations that have curated featured artists and pieces of art.
This year’s Spring Gallery Walk includes an exhibit that features the work of several TRAIL members, volunteers, and contributors. In “Where Art Meets Friendship,” visitors to the Senior Center will discover a vibrant collection of artwork created by 14 local artists who gather each week to explore new materials, share ideas, and celebrate the joy of making art together.
Representing two community art-making groups, this exhibition highlights creativity as a shared experience rooted in curiosity, encouragement, and connection.
In the Main Gallery (Assembly Room, 1st Floor), you can view work by Ann Miracle, Betsy Fischer, Constance Peterson, Diana Miller, Gwen Elling, Helene Donta, and Nancy Traer.
In the Upper Gallery (3rd Floor), you’ll see art by Carrie Z. Norton, Cheryl Miller, Corbin Bailey, Jesse Singerman, Linda McGuire, Maggie Conroy, and Rebecca Clouse.
Together, their work reminds us that art grows not only from individual expression, but from friendship, community, and the simple act of creating side by side.
