The Iowa City Public Library invites you to the latest Let's Talk Books discussion – this time, it’s all about cozy mysteries.
Cozy mysteries are a lighthearted subgenre of mysteries that contain little to no graphic violence, sex or bad language, and are often written in a series. They usually involve an amateur sleuth who lives in a small town populated by a quirky cast of regulars.
The sleuth is well known in the community and has a full-time career or is retired with many hobbies, and mysteries just seem to fall into their lap. The sleuth is often, but not always, a woman. Gather some of your favorites and join us for a lively discussion.
Check out this genre page from Goodreads list for some suggestions.
Not a traditional book group, Let's Talk Books is a series of casual online conversations about books. Participants meet on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month on Zoom to talk about favorite books in a specific genre or on a theme that changes each time. Each person brings a few titles to share, and by the end of the discussion everyone has a few new titles on their to-be-read lists.
Register in advance and you'll receive a confirmation email with the Zoom login details. You'll also get a reminder email a few days before the event. Everyone is welcome!
