About this event

The State Historical Society of Iowa invites you to join their latest “Iowa History 101” webinar, as author and historian Joe Anderson presents an overview of Iowa’s agricultural history.

Learn more about the ways in which Iowa has been a leader in American agriculture as well as the ways in which Iowa farmers developed the land, responded to change, and shaped the countryside.

Dr. Anderson is Professor of History and Associate Dean of Arts-Research, Scholarship and Community Engagement at Mount Royal University in Calgary. A dual citizen of Canada and the United States, Dr. Anderson has specialized in public and agricultural history throughout his career. He is the author of several publications on these topics, including his most recent book Capitalist Pigs: Pigs, Pork, and Power in America, which details the history of pigs and the pork industry in the United States.

This virtual event is free and open to the public.
