Nordic Noir is a subgenre of crime fiction/police procedurals that are set in Scandinavia or the Nordic countries (Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden). The Iowa City Public Library staff invite you to gather some of your favorites and join this “Let’s Talk Books” discussion.
These novels most often contain common characteristics: a realistic style with a dark, morally complex mood and troubled protagonists. Check out this genre page from Goodreads list for some suggestions: https://www.goodreads.com/genres/nordic-noir
Not a traditional book group, Let's Talk Books is a series of casual online conversations about books. Participants meet on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month on Zoom to talk about favorite books in a specific genre or on a theme that changes each time. Each person brings a few titles to share, and by the end of the discussion, all have a few new titles on their to-be-read lists.
Register in advance and you'll receive a confirmation email with the Zoom login details. You'll also get a reminder email a few days before the event. Everyone is welcome!
