MLK Jr. Day of Service Project: ICSC Food & Boot Drive
About this event

The Iowa City Senior Center is sponsoring a Food and Boot Drive in the spirit of Martin Luther King Day – and TRAIL members are invited to pitch in!
Senior Center volunteers will greet you at the Washington St. door to accept donations to help supply the ICSC pantry with non-perishable food and personal care items. Most-needed items include:
- Shelf-stable proteins (peanut butter, canned chicken/tuna)
- Canned soups, beans, vegetables, single-serving meals
- Canned fruits, fruit juices, dried fruits, jelly, honey
- Whole grains (pasta, rice, cereals, oatmeal)
- Snacks (granola bars, nuts, fruit snacks, crackers)
- Cooking staples (olive oil, spices, dried herbs, pasta sauce)
- Hygiene (toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, soap, razors, shampoo, toilet paper, adult incontinence products, wipes)
- Household (laundry detergent, dish soap, cleaning supplies)
The Senior Center is also collecting new, warm winter boots to give to our unhoused neighbors in need (via Shelter House). Now is a great time to take advantage of winter clearance sales!
