Iowa City Climate Fest: Solar Big & Small
About this event

This year, 300 newly installed ground-mounted solar panels at the Iowa City Airport came online, powering the terminal, runway lights, and ambulatory hangar with clean energy. In the summer months, the power production even exceeded the airport’s needs, flowing onto the grid to help supply nearby structures with additional energy. That’s worth celebrating!
The resilience and affordability of electricity from solar photovoltaic panels has prompted installations on the massive as well as the micro scales. See what role you might play in the renewable energy revolution at this Iowa City Airport event.
Join tours of the airport's solar array at 4 and 6 PM, bring the kids for fun solar-related activities, enjoy a solar-inspired art exhibit by local artists and curated by Public Space One, and use a handy online portal from Project Sunroof to get an estimate of your home's solar capacity. Local solar installers, well as climate action staff, will be on hand to answer all your questions about going solar.
The City's 6th annual Climate Fest is a celebration of the many ways our community takes action to address climate change. For a complete list of Climate Fest activities, visit https://www.icgov.org/Home/Components/News/News/2177/390.
