About this event

The State Historical Society of Iowa invites you to join Dr. Jennifer Mack for a discussion of adolescents who lived, died, and were buried in Dubuque’s Third Street Cemetery between 1833 and 1880.
Research focused on these young people combines information from historic records with skeletal evidence of disease to explore the health and mortality of Dubuque’s teenagers, while artifacts from the excavated burials shed light on the identities of the adolescents, as well as the population’s changing views of the afterlife.
The Iowa History 101 webinars share Iowa stories and the history of the state through a cultural history lens on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month. Registration is required for each event and to receive a link to the recorded program.
