Art Bites: Strokes of Genius: American Impressionism and its Legacy
About this event

Join Cedar Rapids Museum of Art Curator of Collections and Exhibitions Julia Jessen for a free discussion about Strokes of Genius: American Impressionism and its Legacy, one of CRMA’s current exhibitions.
Characterized by a focus on the effects of light and atmospheric conditions, loose brushstrokes, and often bright colors, Impressionism was the prevalent artistic style in the United States when the Cedar Rapids Museum of Art originated in 1895. This exhibition explores the unique American re-interpretation of the style that originated in France through works from the collection. The legacy of these American Impressionists continues to inspire painterly artists today. This exhibition runs through September 14, 2025.
Free admission to the museum begins July 1, so you may visit all galleries after the program and stay as long as you would like.
