Did you know nursing homes are rated by the government? Come to this 30-minute Iowa City Senior Center presentation by University of Iowa researcher Mercedes Bern-Klug and learn the basics of how the government rates US nursing homes and how to track down information online.
Immediately following the presentation, Mercedes and student Ivy Hamilton will host a focus group. Anyone who attended the presentation can choose to participate in the half-hour focus group. The purpose of the focus group is to learn what the public thinks about how and what the government communicates about nursing homes termed "Special Focus Facilities," which are this with a history of major deficiencies on their annual inspections.
You are welcome to attend the presentation even if you do not wish to be a part of the focus group.
