About this event

Conditions like osteopenia and osteoporosis affect both men and women, but they are more commonly diagnosed in women. That's why it's important to take steps to improve your bone health and prevent fractures, no matter your age.
Join UI Health Care orthopedics and OBGYN specialists at UIHC's new North Liberty facility for a special seminar to learn more about how you can prioritize your bone health and reduce your risk of bone loss.
You will hear the following presentations followed by a question-and-answer session.
Build better bones: Jaime Bonner, MSN, ARNP, FNP-C
Bone health is important at every age and there are steps you can take to build and maintain healthy bones. Learn what osteoporosis is and how you can build better bones now to avoid fractures in the future.
Back to basics with bone health: Cathy Hostettler, DNP, ARNP, FNP-BC
Strong bone health habits contribute to strong bones and fewer falls and fractures. Bone is living tissue needing adequate daily intakes of calcium, Vitamin D, and protein. How much do you need of each? Why is intentional exercise important for musculoskeletal health? Get the facts about bone health that will keep you strong and independent.
What do hormones have to do with your bone health?: Holly Bolger, DO, FACOG, MSCP
As women approach menopause, hormonal changes can significantly impact bone health. We will explore the vital connection between hormones and bone strength. We will review the role of estrogen in reducing the risk of bone loss along with other evidence-based strategies of nutrition and physical activity aimed at maintaining strong healthy bones.
