Iowa History 101: Last Days in Vietnam, First Days in Iowa

About this event

Fifty years after the fall of Saigon, join this Iowa History 101 presentation to hear Professor Matthew Walsh discuss the important roles three Iowans played evacuating South Vietnam and Governor Robert Ray’s resettlement of Southeast Asian refugees in Iowa.

Matthew R. Walsh is a professor of history at Des Moines Area Community College. For his previous works, Walsh has received awards from Penn State, University of Nebraska-Omaha, and the State Historical Society of Iowa.

The Iowa History 101 webinars share Iowa stories and the history of the state through a cultural history lens on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month. Registration is required for each event and to receive a link to the recorded program.
