The University of Iowa invites the community to a special afternoon showcasing the UI’s creativity and scholarship. The 42nd Annual Presidential Lecture will address the multiple voices in 21st-century communication.
In recent decades, the human voice has undergone a massive revolution, from the crucial individual teacher’s voice in the classroom to the frontiers of technology. Today, we continue to transform how we create, protect, understand, convey, and amplify our multiplicity of voices in learning and sharing ideas and discoveries.
Faculty presenters Weiguo (Patrick) Fan and Eric Hunter will explore “voice” as a powerful communication tool with major impacts on classroom teaching, health care, consumer behavior, online platforms, social chatter, and more – from individuals to mass populations and cultures.
Weiguo (Patrick) Fan is the Henry B. Tippie Excellence Chair in Business Analytics. He also serves as Faculty Director of the Tippie Analytics Cooperative in the UI’s Henry B. Tippie College of Business.
Eric Hunter is the Harriet B. and Harold S. Brady Chair in Liberal Arts and Sciences. He also serves as Department Executive Officer for the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders in the UI College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
If you are unable to attend in person, you may view the lecture online, after the event.
