If you are a member, please log in to access additional, potentially lower registration fee options.
About this event
Young women have been playing basketball in Iowa for more than 125 years -- long before Caitlyn Clark. Those early players ignited a passion for girls' and women's basketball in this state that still burns bright.
What began as community games in the 1890s became a feature of Iowa life every winter as Iowa high school women competed for the state championship.
The State Historical Society of Iowa invites you to join State Curator Leo Landis as he gives an overview of Iowa high school girls' basketball from its origin to the end of the 6-on-6 era in 1993.
The Iowa History 101 webinars share Iowa stories and the history of the state through a cultural history lens on the second and fourth Thursdays of each month. Registration is required for each event and to receive a link to the recorded program.
