The State Historical Society of Iowa invites you to join Jerome Thompson as he relates the work of Des Moines native Robert Smith during and after World War II in the Graves Registration branch of the U.S. Army Quartermaster Corps.

Learn about Smith’s years searching jungles in New Guinea and other islands for downed aircraft or remains of soldiers missing in action. Learn also about contemporary work to follow up on his “cold cases” from more than 70 years ago.
